We have undertaken numerous LVIA’s for wind turbines, solar farms, telecoms towers, and residential development.

LVIA is often required for proposals in sensitive locations. Our approach works to the Landscape Institute GLVIA3 method and includes understanding the impact on the historic features of a site, the special sense of place, and provides useful indicative mitigation plans.

The visible extent of the proposals based on landform rather than land cover is shown as a Zone of Theoretical Visibility map and helps to focus survey effort. We work with visualisation specialists to generate ZTV’s and photomontages based on an agreed approach with the local planning office.

Solar Farm near St Davids, Pembrokeshire

LVIA for a small scale solar farm within an existing caravan park in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Photomontages of proposals were produced to illustrate impacts and mitigation measures which included new Pembrokeshire hedgebanks, gorse planting, and fencing to allow natural regeneration.

LVIA and tree survey for a proposed care home near Chepstow and the Wye Valley.

The building was designed to minimise the impact on the mature boundary trees.

Development site for 75 units adajcent to an historic landscape. We undertook tree, hedgerow and landscape surveys to provide constraints plans. The planning submission was successful and retained a mature tree backdrop, with new native planting, footpath links, play area, and formal stone walled entrance.

Existing native hedgerows and trees were retained as screening, providing a mature backdrop for new housing, and as a wildlife resource, with new native and ornamental planting along access roads and garden boundaries.

Existing hedgerows and trees, were retained, with significant new woodland and orchard planting.

Won the RIBA West Midlands regional award and RIBA West Midlands Sustainability Scheme of 2018 award.

Sketch scheme options for improving access and biodiversity at a NRW owned site in the Gwent Levels. Options provided a range of interventions, including fencing off from grazing, and allowing natural regeneration from surrounding SSSI’s.

Action Plan for the Western Valleys Strategic Regeneration Area (Client: Welsh Assembly Government)

Strategy and action plans for nine valley areas to identify sites for on the ground improvement to create a new green infrastructure. Working with four local authorities to upgrade access, tourism, biodiversity and amenity value focussed in and around the community settlements.
